‘Leucadendrons with Brass Leaf Ornament’

$350.00

‘Leucadendrons’, an original watercolour, gouache and ink painting of a vase of these stunning flowers sitting on a  vintage desk I have in my entryway.

The painting is on heavyweight A3 watercolour paper made from 100% post-consumer cotton rag.

Leucadendrons are part of the Protea family, native flowers of South Africa, yet they look like many of our native Australian plants, so they are often found in native garden settings here. I love buying a couple of bunches of Leucadendrons from our local market; they last for a really long time in a vase and make such a stunning structural flower arrangement. This bunch lasted for a couple of months, changing colour from deep red to pale yellow as they dried out.

Painted in in acrylic with details in pigment ink, on A3 size, acid free watercolour paper. Framed in a black timber frame, made from Australian sustainable hardwood, with a custom fitted acid-free mat board, white with a black inner edge.
