My series 'Monochrome Roots' is partly a response to the vista that was seen here in Australia after the fires, with the blackened trees and colourless landscape. It's also a revisitation to some of my earliest art practices using black ink. Back then (in 1991!) it was simply black ink in the form of a felt pen. In this series I have used liquid pigmented ink, charcoal, flow acrylic and flow medium (and some water).
There is no need to framethepainting as it has been madeon a gallery wrapped canvas, with the edges showing the runs of the paint whichrepresentthe roots and branches of the trees. It has a sturdy wire fitted to the back so it is ready to hang.
